Grilled Pineapple with Nutella

Pineapple doesn’t quite qualify as Italian, but Nutella is definitely an Italian favourite. Grilling the pineapple enhances its sweet flavour, provides the great grill marks and of course warms it up, bringing a new level of comfort to this incredibly comforting dessert

Ananas con Nutella (13) Ananas con Nutella

  • 1 pineapple, peeled and cut crosswise into ½ inch thick slices
  • ¼ cup almonds or hazelnuts
  • Nutella, few tablespoons
  • cocoa powder

Preheat the oven to 350°, place the nuts on a baking tray and toast in the oven stirring occasionally, until the nuts are fragrant and light golden brown in the centre – you can even do this in a dry frying pan –, put aside to cool down completely and then chop or crush them roughly.

Set your grill to medium-high heat. Grill the pineapple slices so they start to get warm and beginning to brown. In the meantime Put the chocolate in a bowl and microwave until warm, stirring every 20 seconds or so.

Put the pineapple slice on plates, drizzle over the chocolate and top with the toasted nuts and sprinkle with a little cocoa powder
